Second Brain - Write Your Own Chapter 5
A downloadable tool
WHAT THIS IS A Claude Skill:
a set of instructions that teaches Claude how to design and build Game Boy-style (160x144, four-tone green) single-file HTML5 narrative games, ready to publish on itch.io. It is distilled from a real, finished game: SECONDBRAIN (https://evernotebot.itch.io/secondbrain).
This is NOT a program.
There is nothing to run, no command to type, and no payment step inside it. You never need npx, npm, or any installer.
WHAT YOU NEED
- A Claude account (claude.ai or the Claude desktop app) with Skills turned on
- Code execution / file creation turned on (Claude uses it to build the HTML, convert reference images to pixel art, and test the game)
- Optional: Claude Code, if you prefer working in a terminal
INSTALL — claude.ai / Claude desktop app
1. Create a folder named: gameboy-game-dev-en 2. Put the downloaded file inside it and make sure it is named exactly: SKILL.md 3. Zip the folder -> gameboy-game-dev-en.zip 4. In Claude, open Settings, find the Skills section, upload the zip, and switch the skill on.
INSTALL — Claude Code
Place the file here: ~/.claude/skills/gameboy-game-dev-en/SKILL.md Restart Claude Code. The skill loads automatically.
HOW TO USE
Start a new chat and describe what you want. The skill activates on its own when you mention a Game Boy-style / pixel narrative / chiptune game. Examples: - "Make a Game Boy-style single-file HTML game about a rainy afternoon." - "Turn this photo into a 160x144 four-tone green CG." (attach the image) - "Add a new chapter to my GB-style game." (attach your index.html) - "Write a four-voice chiptune BGM for a quiet night scene."
WHAT YOU GET FROM CLAUDE
A single index.html you can double-click to play offline, plus a zip ready to upload to itch.io (HTML project -> upload zip -> "This file will be played in the browser" -> embed around 720x720).
TIPS
- Play in a real browser (Chrome / Safari / Edge / Firefox). File previews on phones do not run JavaScript and will show a blank screen. - On iPhone, if there is no sound, tap the screen once and check the silent switch.
